“Continuing a Tradition of Excellence and Service.”
I am proud to officially announce my candidacy for Kerr County Clerk in the March 2026 Primary!
I was born and raised right here in Kerrville, Texas, and I’m a proud graduate of Tivy High School, many of you may remember me by my maiden name, Denise Cantu.
Throughout my tenure with Kerr County, I have held several key positions within the Clerk’s Office, including serving as Juvenile Deputy Clerk, which handles juvenile cases, Probate and Guardianship Deputy Clerk, and the Senior Deputy Clerk for Elections. Since July 2024, I have had the honor of serving as the Chief Deputy Clerk.
As Chief Deputy Clerk, I have gained hands-on experience in every aspect of the office, deepening my understanding of its operations and reinforcing my commitment to serving the citizens of Kerr County with excellence.
I’m passionate about serving our community and committed to bringing integrity, transparency, dedication, and experience to the County Clerk’s Office.
Prior to joining Kerr County, I served as an Administrative Records Clerk with the Kerrville Police Department for six years. I bring a strong background in records management, public information compliance, and administrative support within a highly confidential environment.
My work required strict attention to detail, timeliness, and a commitment to accuracy, particularly in handling legal documents, court reports, and public requests under the Texas Freedom of Information Act. These are the same standards required of the County Clerk’s Office.
Before entering public service, I spent nearly twenty-five years in the field of information technology with Dell Computer in Round Rock, Texas (Austin area). During my tenure, I held global roles as a Senior Software Developer, Data Security Specialist, Business Analyst, Network Data Administrator, and Platform Administrator.
This experience provides me with a unique perspective and the technical expertise necessary to help modernize and enhance the services of the County Clerk’s Office
